New wastewater vortex drop shaft
The Municipality of Muri-bei-Bern has an General Drainage Plan (GDP) that include several urgent measures for the sewerage network in the Mettlen district. At the heart of the project was a double-flow vortex chamber, in which the wastewater overcomes a height difference of about 15 m in a controlled spiral path. The inlet to the vortex chamber and the outlet to the stormwater basin below were constructed without trenches by micro tunnelling. In addition, a new storm drain and a new relief channel to the River Aare were constructed.
