Widening the road for more safety
Montreux (VD) - The pavement along the outer edge of Rue du Temple had been showing signs of deterioration for years. The road was too narrow for lorries and buses to pass – they swerved onto the pavement. Not only was the pavement not designed for such loads, but these manoeuvres posed a serious risk to pedestrians.
Now these problems are being addressed in a major renovation project: the road will be widened, the retaining wall will be repaired, the pillars of the overhanging pavement will be renovated and strengthened, and the utility lines and road surface will be renewed.
Our tasks
HOLINGER has been commissioned to carry out the SIA 31 to 53 phases, covering the preliminary design, the construction project, the invitation to tender and the construction phases. In addition to the demolition and replacement of the supporting pillars, the widening of the carriageway and the construction of the new road surface and supporting structure, the collectors and underground pipes were also replaced along the entire 600 metre stretch.
HOLINGER was involved in the project management and was also responsible for the demanding coordination of the works. Working with limited space, it was important to ensure traffic flow and access to the properties during the construction period.
