Ecological benefits thanks to generous widening

After six years of planning and one year of construction, 1.5 km of the Dünnern in Herbetswil now flows in a revitalised and partially new channel. A lot of additional ecological value was created through this project thanks to a generous widening of the Dünnernacker, various bio-engineering structures, the replacement of concrete walls with curved block sets and a new amphibian pond.

The village of Herbetswil is now protected from flooding by the widened channel and a new dam. The population has been provided with a valuable local recreation area with a newly designed circular path and observation tower.
