Geology and drinking water: protection zone renewals and spring remediation
Since 2022, the Geology and Environmental experts at HOLINGER in Thun have been carrying out the hydrogeological work required for the renewal of the old protection zones of the existing drinking water wells in the municipality of Sigriswil, above Lake Thun. The team is also carrying out the hydrogeological monitoring of the new spring catchment.
Our tasks
The tasks of the geology team at HOLINGER AG in Thun are the long-term monitoring of numerous larger and smaller wells. This includes regular readings from the installed conductivity data loggers. These record a value every 20 minutes over a hydrological year (12 months). This allows conclusions to be drawn about the influence of surface water on the springs.
During the renovation of the Rüeggers Nord spring intake, the team assesses the subsoil and advises the engineers on the properties of the layers encountered.
