Restoration of fish passability

Visp (VS) - About 2.3 kilometres before it flows into the River Rhône, the River Visp was interrupted by a 3.5 metre drop which posed an insurmountable obstacle for fish. The difference in height has now been bridged by a block ramp, which ensures that fish from the Rhône can continue up the Visp. The ramp, which is constructed as a basin and step ramp, was built exclusively from blocks sourced from local quarries and neighbouring countries. In total, almost 8000 tonnes of blocks were used.
