Mechanical and biological stage now operating successfully

In the Basel WWTP expansion project, four years after the start of construction work, the new mechanical stage was commissioned in 2022. It is fully covered and also houses the exhaust air treatment plant and workshop facilities.

The next milestone – the new biological stage – was also successfully completed in spring 2023. The biological stage, consisting of 9 Sequencing Batch Reactors (SBR), is also fully enclosed and connected to the new air treatment plant.

The next three stages are the micro pollution stage, the digestion stage and the new building. This work is scheduled for completion in 2025.
