An ideal STWP
The new Chrätzere Road Runoff Treatment Plant (RRTP) treats runoff from approximately 18.6 hectares of motorway. It consists of a retention basin, two retention filter basins; one with gravel, the other with reeds planted in sand – and a retention trough. To protect the groundwater, the treatment plant is located above the groundwater table. Therefore, for normal operation during heavy rainfall, the pumps need the support of three additional sump pumps to shift storm water into the treatment works. Pollutants such as heavy metals and microplastics are retained in the two-stage treatment process.
Our tasks
As part of the KIKRI interest group, which was responsible for the rehabilitation of the entire motorway section, HOLINGER planned the Chrätzere Road Run-off Treatment Plant (RRTP) and was also in charge of its realisation. The work included:
- calculations of the hydraulics and hydrodynamics
- process engineering of the plant
- dimensioning of the statics including geotechnics
- mechanical equipment
- metal construction
- coordination of the measurement and control technology
- local construction management up to the commissioning
