Since its foundation in 1933, HOLINGER has grown continuously and created many new jobs for qualified employees. We have continued this growth in 2023: Compared to the previous year, the number of employees in the HOLINGER Group has increased by 11% to 679. The age distribution shows a balanced mix of young talent and veterans. The average age is 41. We employ top-level specialists: the proportion of employees with a university or college degree is around 65%.

HOLINGER is committed to the principle of equal pay for work of equal value. An external body has audited and certified equal pay for men and women. Our employees come from 31 nations and represent 22 professions. The proportion of women in engineering professions is low compared to other professions: in 2015, approximately 16% of all employees in engineering were women. At HOLINGER, the proportion of women will be 37% in 2023. This means that HOLINGER employs significantly more women than other engineering companies.
 

EDUCATION AND TRAINING

HOLINGER trains qualified professionals. We have 19 apprentices training as draughtsmen and draughtswomen EFZ specialising in civil engineering. Over the last five years, the number of apprentices has been between 19 and 23 per year. The training of our employees is central to our success. With around 22 530 hours of training (2023), our employees have developed and strengthened their knowledge and skills. This equates to an average of 41 hours per person. In addition to technical expertise, we also focus on personal development and social skills.

SHARING IN THE SUCCESS OF THE COMPANY

HOLINGER is 100% owned by its employees. This means that we are independent of outside interests. At the same time, employees have a say as shareholders and benefit from the company›s success. After two years of service, every employee is entitled to buy shares. The group of shareholders grew by 8.3% in 2023 and currently comprises 169 employees.

ATTRACTIVE CONDITIONS

Approximately 41% of employees work part-time. They do this mainly for personal reasons, such as caring for children or relatives. HOLINGER covers 100% of the cost of non-occupational accident insurance and daily sickness allowance for its employees. HOLINGER also contributes 60% to the pension fund, which is more than the law requires.  

HEALTH PROMOTION AND PREVENTION

In order to protect its employees at work, HOLINGER›s management has signed the SUVA Safety Charter. HOLINGER, as the party responsible for the design and construction of projects, is committed to complying with and enforcing the regulations. Every year, HOLINGER employees take part in the «Bike to work» programme and cycle to work for two months.
